When prospective buyers pull up to the front of a home they may be interested in buying, their first impression is based on the condition of the front door, garage doors, roof, windows and driveway, along with the appeal of the lawn and the landscaping.

What are ways you can impress them?

Lawn
get rid of the weeds; fertilize/add seed as needed; water and cut it regularly; edge the lawn

Garden
plant bright flowers; edge flower beds; spread mulch; remove weeds

Trees/Foliage
trim overgrowth

Front Door & Front Porch
replace or paint the front door; add containers and/or hanging baskets; add a welcome mat; if there is room, add inviting chairs; replace/clean the light fixture and mail box; keep area clear of debris and clutter

Roof
have shingles and caulking inspected and serviced; have eves troughs cleaned out

Windows
replace with more energy efficient and maintenance free windows if it’s within your budget; paint/clean frames if not replacing windows; clean windows inside and outside

Garage
replace garage doors and garage door openers if needed; if keeping existing doors, paint them and ensure they work properly; replace/clean the light fixtures and house numbers; check faucet for leaks; sweep garage floor; store tools and toys neatly inside

Driveway
reseal/repave driveway or repair interlocking stone; tend to weeds/ant hills that appear in cracks

Be sure to take photos of your home looking its best when everything is in bloom…that way, if you happen to sell your home in a different season, you will be able to help potential buyers visualize the potential!
